UPDATE: Memorial service for the Brink children

A memorial service of two children who died in a car accident outside Theunissen in the Free State will be held in Hatfield on 22 January at 14:30.

The memorial service for André (13) and Rachel (8) Brink, will be held in the Hatfield Christian Church (HCC) in Pretoria said Dr Dirk Hermann, chairman of the Solidarity board.

The family of seven were heading on a Christmas holiday when the accident happened on 16 December 2016.

Wife Lise, her husband Dr Danie Brink who is the executive director of Solidarity Helping hand, their two sons Johann (9) and Daniël (2) and daughter Mieke (15) narrowly escaped death.

Lise sustained critical injuries.

According to reports Lise is in intensive care at the Unitas Hospital, where she has since had her leg amputated.

Herman said Lise was making stable progress and was told about about the amputated leg.

“She is still in a serious condition but we are hopeful.  She can respond on a basic level and we wait for 24 hours to find out if she will undergo a back operation.”
