NOTICE: BRT construction forces road closures

The R21 highway and several routes in the east of Pretoria will be closed this weekend.

Tshwane metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the temporary road closures would be in effect on Saturday and Sunday between 06:00 and 18:00.

“We would like to notify motorists and nearby businesses of the temporary road closures on Saturday and Sunday as a result of the BRT construction in the area,” said Mahamba.

The following roads will be affected in the Garsfontein area:

– Garsfontein Road will be closed between Corobay Avenue and Menlyn Retail Park.

– Aramist Street will be closed between Corobay Avenue, Absa office park centre and Menlyn Retail Park.

– Glen Manor Street will be closed between New Road and the circle.

 

Mahamba said other roads would be closed in weeks to come.

On the weekend of 16 and 17 September, Atterbury Road and January Masilela Drive will be closed from 06:00 to 18:00 as follows:

– Atterbury Road will be closed between Lois Street and January Masilela Drive.

– January Masilela Drive will be closed between Atterbury Road and Glenwood Street.

Detour sign boards will be erected to direct traffic.

The Tshwane metro police will also assist with redirecting traffic at the intersections.

Meanwhile, the R21 highway will also be closed due to constructions scheduled for the weekend.
