Three armed men tied up staff and robbed a petrol station in Elardus Park at the weekend.

Lyttelton police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu said the three entered the petrol station on Sunday afternoon, around 17:00 and held up staff at gun point.

He said two of them were armed, and tied up staff with cable ties.

“The men somehow found the keys to the safe and gained access to it, stealing R6 000 in cash.”

Gumbu said the men travelling in a blue Opel Corsa with no number plates took the amount of cash and fled the scene.

“Police are still investigating, and anyone with any information can contact Lyttelton police.”

Directorate of Specialized Security’s Brandon Morgan confirmed the robbery and said no injuries were reported.

He said his firm and Brinant security responded to the robbery.
