The man abducted by robbers and forced to withdraw money from his bank account has returned home.

A witness to the ATM robbery in Silverton on Thursday night, said the man was apparently forced into withdrawing cash by two men who then bundled him into his car and sped off.

Keegan Holms, told Rekord that the bloodied man had no shirt or shoes on.

He said after the man had withdrawn the money, the robbers took his bank card and forced him back into a car and sped off in a westerly direction.

Holms took photographs of the vehicle then gave chase.

“I followed them for about 20 minutes before I lost track of them. They were driving up one road and then down another, making it hard to follow them.”

Holms contacted the Silverton community patrol association (CPA) for help.

The man was found at his home on Friday morning.

Holms, who was with the man, said the man confirmed he drove himself home but could not remember how he got there.

“He cannot remember what happened last night. He is fine now but still disorientated,” said Holms.

CPA member, Kobus Koekemoer, said the victim’s arms were badly injured but said he would not need medical attention at this stage.

Koekemoer said the CPA was searching for the robbers.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo could not confirm the incident and said there was a possibility it had not been reported to police.
