The police docket in the trial of DA MP Glyniss Breytenbach was stolen in Sunnyside on Friday.

Police spokesperson major Robert Netshiunda said someone broke into the car of one of the investigating officers to snatch the docket.

“The suspects broke into the vehicle of one of the team members investigating the case where it was parked next to our offices in Sunnyside on Friday,” Netshuinda explained.

He said a copy of the document had already been handed to her defence team.

Sunnyside police were investigating theft out of motor vehicle and malicious damage to property.

Breytenbach, a former National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) prosecutor, is facing charges of defeating the ends of justice and contravening the NPA Act.

Additional charges of fraud and perjury were brought against her when she appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday.

Breytenbach was unavailable for comment.
