Busy swimming season for Woodhill

It was a busy swimming season for three grade 10 learners of Woodhill College.

Kadin van der Lingen, Catherine Wilcocks and Samantha van Veyeren were selected as part of the Northern Tigers swimming team to participate in the Swimming SA Junior National Age Group gala at Kings Park swimming pool in Durban in March.

This event served as trials for a number of international events.

Van der Lingen and Wilcocks were selected as part of the Gauteng Schools’ swimming team to participate in the 2017 SA Schools’ championships to be held in Polokwane, Limpopo from 9 to 13 April.

This was based on their performances at the Gauteng Schools’ championships that took place in Hillcrest on 17 and 18 February.

Wilcocks participated in the u.16 to u.17 age group and finished in the top five in four of her five events.

She placed second in the 100m breaststroke and third in the 200m backstroke.

Van der Lingen participated in the u.16 to u.17 age group where he finished mostly fourth in five of his six events.

Kadin placed first in the 100m butterfly.

Both swimmers received their Gauteng provincial school colours based on their selection.

Wilcocks and Van Veyeren qualified for the SA Aquatics championships as part of the Gauteng North team to be held in Durban from 3 to 8 April.

They both received their Senior Gauteng North colours based on their selection.
