Women assaulted and robbed at east petrol station

A woman was assaulted and robbed at a petrol station in Newlands, in the east of Pretoria, on Tuesday.

Brooklyn police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said the woman (52) was attacked on the corner of Lois Avenue and Dely Road around 13:00.

Weilbach said the woman had gone into the petrol station shop to pay for her car wash.

“On her return she found a vehicle with tinted windows parked behind her vehicle,” said Weilbach

“She got into her vehicle and the next moment both her front doors were opened by two unknown armed men.”

Weilbach said the woman was hit in the face and over the head with a pistol while the attackers struggled to take off her jewellery.

“The suspects fled in a white Audi R53 with tinted windows.”

“The woman received medical treatment for her injuries.”

Brinant Group security spokesperson Martin Barnard said their firm reacted to the robbery and searched the area for the culprits.

“We have the image of the culprits’ vehicle and have sent out a lookout in the area,” said Barnard.

“We unfortunately cannot share the image as it may warn the culprits.”

Weilbach said police urged the public to come forward with information that could help to track down the men.
