UPDATE: Lost Mams woman still destitute

The Mamelodi police is still looking for the family of Shulani Chauke.

An unknown woman brought to Mamelodi East police in November last year around is still destitute.

Police spokesperson Captain Michael Mbewe said: “No one knows who brought her at the station or where she comes from.”

He appealed to the public to help find the family members of the woman, who told police her name was Shulani Chauke.

“When we asked her name she gave her name, but added that she did not know her age or even where she came from,” said Mbewe.

“We are desperately looking for her family and we suspect that the women has a mental problem, because she had mentioned three different places she came from,” said Mbewe.

She told police she was from Hammanskraal, only to change her story a few minutes later to say she was from Marabastad.

“For her safety, the police has since took her to Mamelodi regional hospital for evaluation, because we are not sure what kind of a person we are dealing with,” said Mbewe.

“We are also not sure about her age, but we suspect that she might be on his early 20’s,” said Mbewe.

The woman had been staying at the hospital ever since.
