Two men were arrested for allegedly physically assaulting their partners in the CBD earlier this week.

Pretoria Central police spokesperson Sergeant Tsietsi Lamola said the men were arrested in two separate incidents for violating the domestic violence act.

Lamola said in the second arrest, which occurred on Sunday, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by her 30-year-old boyfriend for unknown reasons while she was sitting with her friends.

Both men were arrested by the Pretoria Central police and are facing charges of common assault with domestic violence, these are currently under investigation. They are expected to appear in court this week.

Lamola urged victims of violence to report these crimes and break the silence on domestic violence.

“As the police we will inform victims of their rights and options: break the silence on domestic violence. We are committed to treat victims of domestic violence with sensitivity and care. Domestic violence is often thought to include only physically violence, but the conduct that constitutes domestic violence varies in nature and frequency,” said Lamola.
