UPDATE: Well-known Pta doctor shooting case continues

The police are still on the hunt for four men who shot and injured a well-known Pretoria doctor recently.

Four men targeted Dr John Constantinides last month at the Gift Acres shopping centre.

Lyttelton police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller said the men were still at large.

He said investigation were continuing and police were following up on every trail.

“We believe the culprits will be brought to book to face justice.”

Constantinides was ambushed in what was believed to have been an armed robbery on Lynnwood Road around 13:00.

The police confirmed they were investigating an armed robbery after Constantinides’ wallet and watch were snatched by three men.

There was a scuffle between the perpetrators and the victim and the three men fled after shooting Constantinides in his legs.

Police had strong reason to believe Constantinides was ambushed on his way to his vehicle.”

According to video footage the three men were seen rushing to a white BMW.

Police later said there was a fourth man who was the driver of the BMW.

Asked if the perpetrators were attempting to hijack the doctor, police said there was no evidence to indicate or corroborate a hijacking attempt.

Die Wilgers hospital spokesperson Ineke Jonker said a statement on the doctor’s condition would be provided once the family had given consent.
