Star College Pretoria recently hosted their annual science fair in preparation for upcoming external science Olympiads, for students grade 4 to 11.

The learners participate in several Olympiads and travel abroad to participate internationally.

This year, the school had over 140 projects to judge, with Jim Adams acting as guest judge.

Adams is a retired deputy chief technologist of Nasa, who managed the entire Nasa Planetary Science portfolio from 2007 to 2012.

This enabled the exploration of Mercury, the moon, Mars, the asteroid belt, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto.

He also ran Nasa’s innovation office, an enterprise designed to incubate new ideas to continue Nasa’s leadership role in space exploration.
