March against women abuse to bring Pretoria on standstill

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has warned motorists of road closures due to a protest march by men and against women abuse to the Union Buildings on Saturday.

TMPD spokesman Issac Mahamba said the march by concerned citizens will start at 09:00.

“They will gather from 09:00 at Church Square. At 11:00 they will move from Church Square to the Union Buildings, going into Paul Kruger street, right into Madiba Street proceeding straight to the Union Buildings,” said Mahamba.

The TMPD spokesman said major streets in the inner city were going to be affected by the march.

Streets that will be affected are:

Thabo Sehume,

Lilian Ngoyi,

Sisulu,

Du Toit,

Nelson Mandela Drive,

Steve Biko,

Hamilton

Leyds

The marchers are expected to disperse at 13:00 and motorists have been urged to use alternative routes.
