Star College Pretoria, in partnership with Horizon Educational Trust, hosts the regional leg of the Horizon Math competition each year, inviting public and independent schools from across Pretoria to participate in this prestige Mathematical Olympiad each year. The aim of this competition is to encourage learners to enjoy maths and excel in the subject.

This year, 20 schools participated in Tshwane alone, with over 50 000 learners participating nationally, from Grade 5 to Grade 7. The winner walks away with an iPad 5 and other students in the top 10 are awarded tablets, a smartphone, iPod and bicycles.
