A 27-year-old man was arrested in Mamelodi East on Tuesday for possession of a stolen car, local police have announced.

Police spokesperson, Captain Michael Mbewe said the police were tipped off and immediately launched an investigation.

He said the tip off was that a Datsun Laurel allegedly stolen in Limpopo earlier this month had been brought to Mamelodi.

He said the police arrested the man in Mamelodi East extension 11.
