NOTICE: Roads closed in the east

Motorists could expect road closures at the weekend along Atterbury Road in the east of Pretoria, metro police said.

Spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said both carriageways between Lois Avenue and January Masilela Drive would be closed to traffic on Saturday from 06:00 to 18:00 and on Sunday from 06:00 to 18:00.

“Motorists using the western carriageway from January Masilela Drive will still have access to Plantland and both Engen garages, with a turnaround facility back to January Masilela Drive.”

Mahamba said the road closure was to ensure the seamless relocation of overhead powerlines.

“The relocation of these powerlines is to make way for a bridge construction that has already started at the new Dallas Road interchange.”

He said no power outages were expected in the Menlyn area during the relocation.

“Detour sign boards will be erected to direct traffic. The metro police will also help redirect traffic at the intersections.”
