A 50 year-old magistrate was shot dead in his driveway at his home in Bronkhorstspruit on Wednesday in what could be a possible ‘hit.’
The shooting happened before 16:00 just as the magistrate arrived home, said SAPS spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.
“He was shot four times before he even got out of his car and his attacker fled the scene,” said Dlamini.
He was declared dead at the scene.
A witness allegedly reported seeing a green Toyota Rave 4 leave the scene.
Nothing was stolen from the victim, according to police.
Police will investigate links to cases the magistrate was working on as well as inspect CCTV footage from neighbouring businesses.
A murder case has been opened.
