Nine springboks were killed at a nature park in Moreleta Park on Monday night.
The owner of the park Fred Jonker said the animals were found dead on Tuesday morning with bite wounds.
Jonker said the park’s palisade fencing was broken.
“They may have used the palisade to enter,” he said.
According to Jonker, the springboks may have been killed by bush hunters.
He said dogs were usually used to hunt springboks.
“We also found that rabbits had been bitten as well,” he said.
“We had 23 springboks and now we only have 14 left,” he said.
The surviving animals have been moved to a temporary location.
“We are afraid the people might come back and kill the rest,” Jonker said adding a case was opened with the Garsfontein police.
