The police are still trying to solve the mystery behind the man found dead in his garden two months ago.

Ronald Moreland’s lifeless “and badly bruised body with cable ties around the neck” was discovered by his wife, Lizé on 3 July at their security complex in Olympus.

Police spokesperson Captain Johannes Maheso said autopsy results did not show any injury that suggested murder.

Maheso said the police were still investigating the death and had not ruled out suicide.

Police are still investigating an inquest docket,” he said.

Lizé previously told Rekord that she found her husband in a pool of blood with bruises that looked as though he had been dragged and beaten.

She said her husband was a happy person who wouldn’t have hurt himself “or anyone else” and was adamant that someone killed him.

Civil organisation AfriForum had appointed its top investigator and former NPA prosecutor advocate Gerrie Nel to probe the death “as the matter was not getting sufficient attention from the police“.
