The hunt for the three armed men that ambushed and robbed a petrol station in Elardus Park a week ago, continued at the weekend.

Lyttelton police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu said police were still following leads on the three men that tied up staff and robbed the Elardus Park petrol station.

He said police had some information but would remain discreet as the robbers might know how close police were to nabbing them.

Gumbu said the three entered the petrol station on Sunday afternoon a week ago, around 17:00, and held up staff at gunpoint.

He said they tied staff up with cable ties.

“Police are not certain how the men gained access to the keys to the safe to steal R 6 000 in cash,” said Gumbu.

Gumbu said the men fled the scene in a blue Opel Corsa with no number plates.

“Police are still investigating, and anyone with any information can contact Lyttelton police.”

Directorate of Specialized Security, Brandon Morgan confirmed the robbery took place and said no injuries were reported.

He said his firm and Brinant Security had responded to the robbery.
