Gang bomb Silver Lakes petrol station

A petrol station in Silver Lakes was bombed twice when an armed gang robbed the convenient store in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Engen’s Manager Madeleine Riekert said five men entered the convenient store, wearing balaclavas and gloves around 00:45.

“They bombed the Standard Bank inside the store twice and also the depositor cash handling device,,” she told Rekord.

She said the men took R48 000 from the cash handling device and an undisclosed amount of money from the ATM.

“They fled in a white Mercedes Benz. No one else was injured.”

Riekert said a case was opened at the Boschkop police station.
