A man was arrested after a high speed chase in the east of Pretoria at the weekend.

Directorate of Specialised Security (DSS) spokesperson Brandon Morgan said just after midday a Toyota Hilux was being stolen from the Pretoria East hospital.

He said the perpetrators were also traveling in a white Toyota Hilux.

Morgan said the owner of the Hilux received a signal from his tracking company informing him of a battery disconnection at his vehicle.

“He ran out of the hospital to find his vehicle being driven away,” said Morgan.

Morgan said both the vehicle tracker team and police were notified.

“They immediately gave chase,” Morgan said.

He said the driver lost control of the vehicle in the heat of the chase, and rolled on Boeing Road.

“One suspect was arrested and transported under police guard to hospital.

Morgan said the police GF 50 team and tracker team responded to the scene.

Police were still to confirm the theft at the time of publishing.
